Ethan's Firsts:

This has been a week of firsts for my little guy. First of the firsts is first day of first grade. (Say that five times fast!) He has been really excited to go back to school, which is great because it makes me feel better about him going but I know what he is starting. He will be going to school all day for the next 12 years....ugh I am glad I am done!

His Teacher is Mrs. Healey. We were able to meet her on Wednesday, she seems nice enough and I have heard good things about her. I think Ethan will be fine. He was up the first day of school at 6:30 dressed and ready to go (school starts at 9:15). The whole day I was a wreck. I was thinking constantly about him. I thought, I could just go to the school peek in the window, or even go drive around the school while he is outside just to sneak a peek. Honestly I had to keep busy or I really would have been there, pathetic, I know!!

The only hang up was when I went to go pick him up. He saw me and he just started to cry. I ask him what was wrong and this is what followed

Ethan: "Mom my teacher made me stay."

Me: Thinking great, it is the first day and he is already in trouble. "What do you mean she made you stay?"

Ethan: "I wanted to go home with the Early Birds and she told me I was a Later Gator."

(FYI: I guess "Early Birds" are the kids that come at 8am and get to go home at 2:00, "Later Gators" come at 9:15 and go home at 3:30)

Me: Trying not to laugh. " Well that is okay. That is the time we picked so you could ride with your friends to school. "

Ethan: "But it is so long, I want to go home with the Early Birds."

Now I am second guessing my time choice for school. I think he will get used to it though. I just think it is funny that I prepared him for everything, lining up before school, the lunch room, bathrooms, but I guess I should have said:

"Oh and by the way, kids are going to leave before you get to so please don't fall apart." I guess there is always next year!!

Ethan also had his first Soccer game this week. He is liking it a lot better than T-Ball. He actually gets to run and play. He loves that he has a lot of friends on the team. I need to get another picture of him because he is so stinkin' cute with his shin guards and cleats on! He is number five "because that is my favorite number!"

How cute! I can't believe that will be Kayden next year! I am really sad that school is starting up again! Cameron will be so lost without him! We would love to come be cheerleaders for Ethan's game sometime!

I adore Ethan! I just can't think of him as a big kid! I just think of him as my witty, funny, smart nursery kid!

So fun to be a part of all of these firsts because my boy is too with him. Okay - you can never move because our boys can never replace each other. Thanks for letting them play today. Oh the joys of school starting! Your awesome!
